Our Instructors & Staff Members
Our instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts and have attained a level of expertise to qualify them as teachers as well as mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification, and tournament level competition, our staff members have attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. The following is a listing of Metro Karate Academy's instructors and other staff members beginning with our Sensei, Mr. Anthony S. Rockwell, Jr.:
Anthony S. Rockwell Jr., MBA (6th Degree Black Belt (Sensei))
Mr. Rockwell is the head instructor and founder of Metro Karate Academy which was opened in 1992. In 2004, Mr. Rockwell was inducted in the U.S.A. Martial Arts hall of fame and was awarded the American Tae Kwon Do Master of the year. He has been studying the martial arts since 1983, and he has achieved the level of 6th Degree Black Belt. In 1987, he began his teaching career, and he has been a community leader and role model ever since. Mr. Rockwell was a state, regional and national tournament champion in forms, sparring, and weapons for many years. His greatest strength as an instructor is his ability to connect with even the most reserved student enabling students to feel welcome and relaxed within the karate program. He earned a BA Degree from Augsburg College and his MBA at Capella University. He is a USA Boxing registered coach.

Scott Smith (3rd Degree Black Belt)
Scott Smith was hand picked by Mr. Rockwell to become a class leader and instructor. He earned the 2004 Instructor of the year! His ability to motivate and inspire children and adults is extraordinary. Mr. Rockwell puts his highest faith in Mr. Smith's ability to run a highly disciplined, extremely fun, and very challenging learning environment. He holds a 3nd Degree Black Belt.
